If you’re boat is starting to look worn-down and needs that cosmetic boost, then we recommend you paint your boat. Depending on the size of your boat, it can be a one-persons job.
First off, make sure to use the right paint. There are loads of different marine paints available, and the one you should use all depends on the boat you have. Things to consider; how often do you use it in water and what type of paint is on the boat currently?
Using hard bottom paints means more durability. Then you have the high-performance bottom paints which minimize water friction, when your boat is traveling at high speeds.
Before you start painting, use a solvent to remove the wax and prepare the surface for painting. After the solvent is applied, sand the boat to create a smooth surface. Also look for any holes and fill with epoxy, making sure that the surface is smooth.
Apply a primer to your boat. We usually recommend two coats. After the first coat, sand it and then apply the second coat. Then paint away!
