Rowing takes a lot of strength and physical fitness to propel the boat forwards. However, to gain most efficient movement and energy expelled requires a number of technical items which we shall explore.
The first stand is mostly to do with the technical challenges of rowing, especially in the way the blades (oars) enters the water. If the blade is not perfectly 90 degree’s then you’ll end up ‘digging’ a term used when oars enter the water too deeply and therefore you lose efficiency of the power sent through the blades by the rower.
The next step is flexibility, an issue which is normally overlooked continually by many past and present rowers. Being flexible will enable a rower to extend his or her reach with the blade and by doing so will ensure that the blade is in the water for the maximum time possible, also contributing to moving the boat forwards in an effective manner.
